The Ferber Method Workout

It seems like I’m always hitting bumps in the road with my workouts. I guess that’s what happens when you have a kid. My babysitter had to leave early, so the class I wanted to take at my favorite studio, CardioBody Fitness (btw, that’s where I teach Piloxing) was out of the question. I signed up for the class the night before in attempts to keep myself accountable, but unfortunately, I had to cancel. Wah!

My husband and I decided we were going to try The Ferber Method to get Dominic to go to sleep in his crib without being rocked or fed. Knowing I’m a sucker for his tears, I knew I had to escape the premises for Day 1 of what seemed like The Torture Method. Before I left, I fed Dominic and gave him a kiss goodnight. It was up to my husband to complete the mission. I escaped to the gym as a distraction to the torture that was about to ensue.

While at the gym, I got the play by play of what was happening at home, and it wasn’t pretty. Dominic was not having it. While following the guidelines from The Ferber Method, he cried on and off for almost 3 hours. Lucky for me, I was at the gym for an hour and a half of it.

Holy Lunk alert. The gym was filled with tan gorilla juice heads throwing weights around. Who knew the lunks came out at night?I hate working out with the lunks, so I fled to the aerobic room. I grabbed myself a few dumb bells and a mat, and I was all set. I set myself up in front of the mirror and got to work. Since I was getting the play by play of what was happening at home, I wasn’t in a rush to leave. Dominic was still up and pissed off, so I kept exercising. It was best for me to stay at the gym. I know myself, I’m weak. I would have gave in to the tears and swooped up my sad crying baby and ruined the whole thing.

By the time I got home, Big D was still pissed. I did a B-line straight to the shower. He finally fell asleep when I went in his room to rub his belly. Poor guy.
